Blog: If you can dream it, you can create it

I remember when I was 5 years old and traveling in the back of my mom’s car, looking at the lights of my huge city (Mexico City) and thinking: “When I grow up, I will pass by here in a taxi from the airport to visit my family because I’ll be living in another country.”
I had the great privilege of attending private schools where we were taught half of the day in Spanish and the other half in English, and luckily, I enjoyed learning another language. I admit it has helped open many doors for me.
When I was 16, my parents got divorced. It was a difficult process coming from a home with a lot of domestic violence and an alcoholic father. The privileges ended, and I had to start working to help my mom support our household (we were alone, just her and me). I sold shoes, I sold clothes, and I managed to get a scholarship to study at the university.
When I was in the second semester of my business degree I was offered a job in a call center, and I took it. It was a small company with many challenges, but I learned a lot. After that job, whenever I had a job interview, I asked if there was a possibility of working with other countries. That is how I started working at Bose; it was my first experience working for a multinational company, reporting to the corporate office in Boston, practicing English every day, and getting to know the world of Distribution.
It was a great experience that later led me to work at Haworth Mexico, where I could interact not only with the U.S. market but also the European market. I eventually arrived at MarketStar, where I have had 13+ year career as a leader in Channel and Direct sales, with global experience.
I have lived in two other countries. In 2018, I went to Chile to study for my master’s degree, and when I finished, I had the opportunity to come to the U.S. After three years here, I can say it has been a great experience. And guess what? My dream of arriving in a taxi from the airport to visit my family has come true.
What about you, what’s the next dream you want to turn into reality?
