2023 kicked off with unforgettable lessons and memories that I'll cherish forever. Remember my April blog post, "A Priceless Experience that Started with a Blog"? For those who missed it, it was a tale of unexpected learnings and perspective shifts, all thanks to being open to new experiences and listening to others' stories.

The highlights of my year? A magical weekend in New York City with my youngest daughter, Abigail. Imagine her awe-struck face as she encountered the very artworks she'd been studying in school. And then, there was "Moulin Rouge" on Broadway – an experience that's etched in my memory as a personal favorite.

But the adventures didn't stop there. A few months later, my oldest daughter, Tori, and I jetted off to Knoxville. This trip was different but equally memorable. Why Knoxville, you ask? Because Lizzo was in town! Yes, we danced the night away at the Lizzo concert and stumbled upon a vibrant festival right where we were staying – Tori's absolute favorite kind of event.

These trips taught me the art of being present. I even boldly set my out-of-office message: "Busy making memories with my family." For years, I struggled to disconnect, but I've learned the world doesn't stop without me – and it shouldn't if I'm doing my job right. These weekends with my daughters were more than just getaways; they were priceless moments of connection that I'll treasure forever. And guess what? I'm keen to keep this new tradition alive!

Reflecting on 2023, if I were to choose a "word for the year," it'd be authenticity. Gone are the days of overthinking every word and action. I've embraced vulnerability, speaking my truth, and guess what? It's been liberating. It's tough to put yourself out there, but if my words resonate with even one person, it's worth it. Not everyone will like what I say, and that's okay. Sharing my voice has unexpectedly created a safe space for others to share theirs, sparking enriching conversations in our community. Hosting the WOTC East Leadership Summit in NYC was the cherry on top of a year where I didn't just live - I thrived. And it all circles back to one thing: authenticity.

So, what's brewing for 2024? Inspired by Marra's "Word of the Year Workshop," I've chosen my first-ever word for the year: Reflect. This year is about intentional presence, deep listening, and embracing growth and new challenges.

And here's a piece of wisdom I stumbled upon recently that is worth reflecting on: "Amor Fati," a Latin phrase meaning "to love one's fate." It's about embracing all of life's experiences, even the tough ones, as necessary parts of our journey. Remember, comparing our lives with others only steals joy. Let's cherish our unique paths, as they shape us into the remarkable individuals we are.

Here's to a year of reflection, growth, and loving our fates! 🌟
