As adults, we often become entrenched in the routines and responsibilities of everyday life, sometimes losing sight of the wonder and enchantment that surrounds us. As leaders we are constantly striving for growth and innovation. But sometimes, the most valuable lessons come from the most unexpected places – our children! Through the innocent and unfiltered perspective of our children, we are granted the precious opportunity to rediscover the magic of the world.

"Being a parent is like having a built-in filter that highlights the beauty in the ordinary." - Damesha Craig

"Through my kids' eyes, I rediscover the magic of the world." This simple yet profound statement encapsulates the transformative power of parenthood. When we observe the world through the eyes of our children, we are reminded of the extraordinary in the ordinary, the joy in the mundane, and the beauty in the simplest of things.

The Magic of a Child's Perspective

As adults, routines and responsibilities can dull our senses to the wonder around us. But through a child's eyes, the world explodes with vibrant color and endless possibility.

  1. A simple walk becomes a thrilling expedition, a puddle transforms into a magical portal. This unfiltered perspective offers a powerful reminder: leadership is about vision and seeing opportunities where others see routine.

  1. A cardboard box becomes a castle: Imagine an ordinary cardboard box transformed into a magnificent castle. A child's imagination breathes life into the mundane, turning a simple object into a springboard for adventure. This reminds leaders of the importance of creativity and resourcefulness. Just like a child can create an entire world from a cardboard box, a leader can find innovative solutions with limited resources.

Rediscover the Joy in the Everyday

Children approach life with boundless curiosity and infectious enthusiasm. Their laughter reminds us of the simple joy in everyday moments. The Arizona rain was in full swing yesterday, drumming a relentless rhythm on our windows. But for my little musicians, it was the perfect soundtrack! Transforming the pitter-patter into a beat for their impromptu concert, they danced, sang and even rapped along to nature's symphony. Their infectious laughter echoed through the house, a beautiful reminder that even rainy days can be bursting with creativity and joy.

This playful spirit exemplifies the leader who can find joy and inspiration in unexpected places. Just like a child transforming raindrops into a concert, a leader can find inspiration in challenges and setbacks, turning them into opportunities for growth.

A leader who rediscovers this joy fosters a more positive and engaging work environment and invites more joy into our days.

Embrace the Power of Questions

Children are relentless questioners, constantly seeking to understand the world. Leaders who emulate this curiosity unlock hidden potential within themselves and their teams. Ask questions, challenge assumptions, and spark innovation!

Live in the Moment

Children are masters of present-moment awareness. They savor the experience, be it building a sandcastle or splashing in puddles. Leaders who learn to focus on the present make better decisions and inspire their teams to do the same.

Celebrate the Small Wins

A child finds immense joy in a simple accomplishment. Leaders who recognize and celebrate both big and small wins within their teams foster a culture of motivation and appreciation.

The magic of childhood isn't just for kids. It's a powerful source of leadership inspiration. By embracing the lessons our children teach us, we can all become more engaged, curious, present, and joyful leaders.

So next time you're with your child, a family member or friend's child, take a moment to see the world through their eyes. You might just rediscover the spark that fuels your leadership journey!
