Think. Do. Engage.
By Katelyn S. Herrygers, Strategic Partner Marketing Manager, The Channel Company
But real impact comes when we slow down.
- Think. What’s the real issue? What’s within my control? What’s the best way forward?
- Do. Take the step that makes the most sense. Start small if you have to. But start.
- Engage. Bring others in. Share what you’ve learned. Create momentum.
This model has shaped the way I advocate for my son, and I believe it can help you too—your personal life and your professional life.
When Jay started kindergarten, the calls started—he was struggling, running from the classroom, refusing work, acting out.
I felt the pull to react, to demand immediate change, to fix it all at once. Instead, I followed the model.
I thought about what was really happening: his support wasn’t consistent, he didn’t understand expectations, he felt overwhelmed.
I did what I could—I gathered data, documented patterns, requested a meeting.
I engaged the right people: the school team, the district, advocates who could help me push for what he needed.
It took time. It took persistence. But it worked. Jay got more stable support. He felt safer. He made progress.
Think. Do. Engage.
A cycle that keeps us from spinning in frustration. A model that turns reaction into real change!
