Cybersecurity Is Everyone’s Business: Why the Channel Should Team Up for Real Change

Cybersecurity is no longer an IT issue or product to sell anymore. It’s a cultural challenge that touches every home, school, and workplace. And honestly, none of us can do it alone.

I’ve seen many great cybersecurity awareness programs: everything from teaching kids to be “cyberheroes,” to workshops for parents and teachers on staying safe online. These efforts make a real difference.

Some vendors are already collaborating through cybersecurity alliances and that’s a strong start. But across the channel, we still tend to run our awareness efforts in silos: vendors run their campaigns, distributors do theirs, and resellers theirs.

What if we came together, not just around products and deals, but around shared responsibility? What could a joint channel-wide initiative for cyber education look like? One that unites our reach, resources, and roles to drive real societal impact?

If your organization is already doing this: amazing. Let’s talk about how we scale it. If you’re exploring where to start, maybe we can co-create something.

This is not about adding more to anyone’s plate. Whether you’re in sales, marketing, operations, or leadership, even small contributions count. Sharing best practices, amplifying each other’s programs, or simply joining the conversation can move us all forward.

Some possibilities include:

  • Reaching parents, teachers, and kids more effectively, especially those often overlooked.
  • Avoiding duplicated efforts so every hour and dollar count.
  • Building a stronger reputation for the channel as trusted community leaders who care about real-world safety.
  • Elevating women and diverse voices in shaping this cultural shift, beyond just the cybersecurity corner.

I’m curious: how do you see the channel’s role in driving cybersecurity awareness and education? What initiatives have you seen work well? What ideas could bring us together to collaborate more effectively? I’d love to hear your thoughts, feedback, or examples.

This is an open invitation to everyone in the Woman of the Channel Leadership Network; whether you’re deeply technical or just starting to explore cybersecurity’s impact, your perspective matters.
