I Wasn't Made for Less

There’s a quiet, powerful moment in every woman’s life when she stops apologizing for taking up space.

That moment comes after the storm — after she’s been overlooked in the boardroom, talked over in strategy sessions, and underestimated despite her credentials. It's born not from perfection, but from perseverance. From choosing to stay after the failure, to standing in the ashes of a mistake and declaring:I wasn’t made for less. This phrase has become a mantra for me — a reminder that strength isn’t forged in ease, but in the hard places of self-reflection, truth-telling, and growth.

The Strength in Self-Reflection

In the fast-paced world of technology and leadership, we’re constantly pushed to move forward. But true leadership requires the courage to pause.

Self-reflection is not a weakness; it is the compass by which we reset our course. It is how we turn lessons into leadership. In my own journey, I’ve had to sit with uncomfortable truths: the email I shouldn’t have sent, the team member I failed to support, and the project that fell apart under my watch. It would have been easy to bury the shame and move on, but success built on avoidance crumbles under pressure. Instead, I chose to reflect. To ask myself: What was mine to own? What can I do differently next time? These questions don't diminish us — they elevate us.

Mistakes Are Not Your Identity

Failure is not a full stop; it’s a comma in your sentence. Mistakes are not your identity — they are your initiation.

As women in the workforce, we are often held to standards that require us to be twice as prepared and half as emotional. So, when we fail, it feels louder. Heavier. Noticeable. But we must remember that failure is part of the process. It refines us. It builds emotional intelligence, empathy, and grit — all qualities that make the best leaders.

Dr. Maya Angelou, a beacon of resilience, once said, “You may encounter many defeats, but you must not be defeated.” She reminded us that resilience is not the absence of struggle but the ability to rise in its wake. Her life — marked by trauma, transformation, and triumph — is a roadmap for every woman who feels she must shrink to survive.

You Were Made for More

When we accept the fullness of our journey, the beauty and the bruises, we become unshakable. We stop asking for permission to lead, to speak, to innovate. We stop waiting to be chosen and start choosing ourselves.

To every woman reading this: your story is not defined by your stumbles but by your ability to stand again. Every closed door, every failure, every overlooked win has built the foundation you're standing on now.

You weren’t made for less. You were made for more.

So lead boldly. Reflect honestly. Fail forward. And never forget that every scar has shaped your strength.
